Lord Ganapati Maharaj has a unique significance in Hindu religion. Lord Ganapati is also called Vighnaharta who is the giver of wisdom and Riddhi Siddhi who removes all kinds of troubles of his devotees.
According to the belief of Hindu religion, God returns to his home on the day of Anant Chaturdashi. With this the ten day Ganpati
Mahotsav came to an end. On the day of Ganpati Visarjan, first of all take bath and worship Lord Ganesha as per the rituals. Offer red sandalwood, flowers, durva, modak, paan, betel nut, incense etc. and perform aarti with the entire family. It is believed that when God returns to his home on this day, a bundle of laddus can be given in his hand. They should not send them empty handed because God loves laddus and at the end ask them to forgive for their mistake and come back early next year.
On the day of immersion, try to immerse the idol of Lord Ganapati in a river, pond or stepwell and if this is not possible, then fill water in a big vessel at home and immerse the clay idol in it too, then mix that water and Let the soil flow in a garden or at the root of a tree so that the water does not touch the feet and take care not to insult God.
One should be extremely careful while immersing in a river or pond. Nowadays people consume alcohol and create ruckus during immersion due to which there is a risk of any untoward incident. Do not go into deep water because nowadays it is heard that there are incidents of people drowning in water during immersion, so ensure security arrangements in advance so that any untoward incident can be dealt with.
As far as possible, use only clay idols so that the environment is not polluted and also take care of cleanliness.
